Getting prepared for your session
Welcome! This prep guide should assist you to have the best possible session. Remember, not all sessions go as planned and that's ok! We will do our very best to make the most of it and have fun! Sessions consist of a good mixture of candid and posed shots to try and ensure we get that one shot of everyone looking and smiling at the camera!
What to wear:
This is always the toughest part! It can be very overwhelming and I'm here to help!
I typically suggest choosing one outfit and branching off from there. Mom's outfit is usually a good place to start. Remember, these photos will likely be placed all over your home. Think about how they would look with your wall color and decor.
Things to think about:
~ We will be moving around a lot during your session. Make sure to wear something comfortable and appropriate for the weather.
~ Try on your outfit before your session and look at it from all angles. I will always try to pose you in a way that makes you look your best.
~ Coordinate but don't match. Try to think of color families of 2-4 complimentary colors. EX. blush pink, tan, navy blue and cream. Muted neutral earth tones are best.
~ Pattern is ok in moderation. Florals tend to photograph well. Just make sure everyone isn't wearing it. You can add texture too. Denim jackets, a cute vest or jacket can elevate your outfits as well.
THINGS TO AVOID:
~Bright loud neon colors. The color you wear will reflect on your skin and can be distracting.
~Avoid logos and text on clothing as it can be a huge distraction.
~Try not to get a haircut right before. If you are not happy with it there will be time to grow it out a tad.
~Try not to get a spray tan right before. 2-3 days before should be ok.
~Avoid tennis shoes
~Remove chipped nail polish
~Remove temporary tattoos and marker from the skin
~Empty pockets
What to bring to your session:
~Personal touch up items such as makeup, hair supplies etc.
~Snacks/drinks: Try to bring non-messy snacks, treats and drinks for the kiddos. Try to keep them hidden until needed for a little bribery. Wink Wink!
~Comfy stylish shoes! You never know where I may take ya so even a change of shoes may be necessary.
~Special items that may help the littles relax or giggle. If you have had a session with me you may know about "Mr. Pickles!" If you don't you will lol!
What to expect after:
Phew the session is over!!!
Editing time is typically between 2-3 weeks give or take. All final edited images are then uploaded to your personal Pixieset gallery. From there you will choose your final images. There are options for purchasing additional images, prints and gifts for an additional fee.
Thank you so much for trusting me as your photographer. Hopefully this guide helps you to be as prepared as possible. I look forward to working with you!
